SPECIALIST, SEXUAL VIOLENCE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT

The Specialist, Sexual Violence and Support will be the next leader to join our team in the office of Sexual Violence and Support and Education, working to fostering a campus where consent comes first. Their role will be to deliver appropriate intake and support for sexual violence survivors at the university under the guidance of the Manager, Office of Sexual Violence Support and Education. The successful candidate will support the coordination of awareness, education and training programs to reinforce the university’s commitment to fostering a safe, healthy, supportive environment for all community members. The candidate will leads the development, implementation and delivery of a peer-to-peer, sexual violence survivor advocates program that reflects the community’s diversity.

Qualifications

You have a University degree, in Social Work, Gender Studies, Health Promotion or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Social Work or related experience in frontline, trauma-informed work with sexual violence survivors, intake and referral, and case management. As well as demonstrated experience with providing survivors with options related to safety and justice, and assess the personal, legal and social needs with the survivor. You have experience working with a broad range to equity-seeking groups impacted by sexual violence. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in current laws, legislation, research and best practices in the area of sexul violence, sexual health and bystander intervention.

Your ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners as well as your superior people skills will allow you to manage key relationships and personnel. Your demonstrated experience to provide community development in a not-for-profit and/or post-secondary environment will be considered an asset as well as your ability to work well under pressure in various situations will allow you to effectively work with a broad range of equity seeking groups impacted by sexual violence.

You have strong skills in project coordination including the implementation and coordination of sexual violence education activities, peer programming and service delivery. As well as advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) and social media applications (Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.).
